Roscom secures Managed Service contract with O2  February 2008

Roscom has signed a Managed Service deal with mobile provider O2 which, as well as providing detailed Revenue Assurance reports, will supply an informative Sarbanes Oxley status report to be used as part of SOx control. O2 logo

O2 is a leading provider of mobile and broadband services to consumers and businesses in the UK and was looking for a company who could provide and run Revenue Assurance equipment, report on the findings and focus on SOx compliance.

Roscom’s end to end test call solution, Osprey, is currently used by more than 130 network operators in over 50 countries. By ensuring that companies are billing correctly Osprey enables service providers to demonstrate that they are meeting the relevant financial disclosure and reporting requirements to comply with Ofcom and other regulations, such as Sarbanes Oxley.

Roscom introduced their first Managed Service in 2005 and are delighted to now be running their system for O2. Working closely with O2, Roscom was able to develop a Service Level Agreement for its specific business needs, in particular focussing on SOx reporting. Roscom’s Osprey equipment will generate predefined calls on a selection of tariffs, check the progress and accuracy of those calls through O2’s system, validate the billing, analyse the results and initiate investigations and corrections. Daily, weekly or monthly reports are delivered to the customer by Roscom’s expert teams.

Not only does a Managed Service reduce capital expenditure for businesses by essentially ‘renting’ the Osprey hardware, it also frees up internal resources for focus on core business activities. Roscom has identified the recent market trend of outsourcing non-core business and have put resources into place to cope with this growing demand.

About O2:
O2 is a leading provider of mobile and broadband services to consumers and businesses in the UK. These services include voice, text, media messaging, games, music and video, as well as always on data connections via GPRS, 3G ASDL+ and WLAN. O2 UK is part of Telefónica O2 Europe which comprises mobile network operators in the UK, Ireland and Slovakia along with integrated fixed / mobile businesses in Germany and the Czech Republic. Telefónica O2 Europe also owns 50% of the Tesco Mobile and Tchibo Mobilfunk joint venture businesses in the UK and Germany respectively, as well as having 100% ownership of Be, a leading UK fixed broadband provider.

O2 was ranked as 5th best place to work in the Best Companies to Work for 2007 List and as been awarded a two-star accreditation denoting an ‘outstanding’ company. (For b-roll footage of O2, please visit www.thenewshub.co.uk).

Roscom secures deal with Virgin Media July 2007

In the wake of ntl:Telewest’s recent acquisition of Virgin Mobile, which produced one of the UK’s largest telephony providers, Roscom are delighted that their ‘Osprey’ equipment will continue to be used to test their fixed line services.

Roscom’s Test Call Generation (TCG) system ‘Osprey’ was already effectively in use when Telewest joined forces with NTL in 2006. Telewest were finding Osprey very beneficial but NTL were using equipment from an alternative TCG vendor. Upon assessing the two company’s respective Revenue Assurance solutions, evaluating both the current functionality and future features, Roscom won through. It was decided that ntl:Telewest would solely use the Roscom ‘Osprey’ equipment to validate and test their single billing system. Since the subsequent union with Virgin Mobile ‘Osprey’ will continue to be used by Virgin Media for Ofcom compliance and will expand into testing mobile services too.

The acquisition of Virgin Mobile by ntl:Telewest produced the UK’s first ‘quadplay’ telecoms organisation able to offer subscription TV, broadband, landline and mobile telephony in one package with a single bill.

Simon Taylor, Managing Director of Roscom said “as telecoms price plans become increasingly complex, with integrated service offerings such as triple and quadruple play, it is more difficult for network providers to ensure that what they are billing for matches the services actually used. We are delighted to secure this deal to help Virgin Media ensure that they are metering and billing accurately, to give them and their customers peace of mind”.

Roscom are the leading provider of test call generation solutions for Revenue Assurance and also Quality of Service testing, with expertise extending across the complete spectrum of public and secure access telecom networks. Since 2000, over 100 network operators in over 40 countries have benefited from Roscom test equipment and services.

WeDo Technologies seals a partnership with Roscom September 2007

WeDo have just signed an agreement with Roscom, with a view to expanding their range in Revenue Assurance

Over a three year term, this partnership is intended to set up a joint commercial strategy and the sharing of technological solutions between the two companies, which will allow WeDo to offer a broader range in Revenue Assurance.

Roscom are leaders in supplying TCG solutions, which check the accuracy and quality of fixed and mobile communications networks. Roscom’s two solutions measure both the coverage and Quality of Service (Osprey QOS) and the Metering and Billing issues of Revenue Assurance (Osprey RA), a market in which WeDo already have numerous international references.

Through this agreement the Portuguese technology will be enhancing its range in Revenue Assurance and will have the opportunity to bring RAID to new customers, including around 130 operators of communication networks in more than 50 countries, which form the Roscom customer group.

“Our main aim with this partnership is to improve the service we offer our customers. Roscom is the main benchmark when talking about Revenue Assurance test calls for communications networks and therefore we believe that this alliance will contribute greatly towards achieving the aim” says Rui Paiva, CEO of WeDo. “Roscom’s strong know-how will allow us to offer an even stronger and complementary global solution, which we believe will bring new opportunities for business throughout the world”.

“Roscom and WeDo are offering telecom service providers a way to efficiently identify revenues that might otherwise be lost in today’s complex network environment,” says Simon Taylor, CEO of Roscom. “In today’s environment where telecom companies are being forced to decrease their margins, this partnership is a natural fit to help solve this issue.”
