WeDo Technologies seals a partnership with Roscom September 2007
WeDo have just signed an agreement with Roscom, with a view to expanding their range in Revenue Assurance

Over a three year term, this partnership is intended to set up a joint commercial strategy and the sharing of technological solutions between the two companies, which will allow WeDo to offer a broader range in Revenue Assurance.
Roscom are leaders in supplying TCG solutions, which check the accuracy and quality of fixed and mobile communications networks. Roscom’s two solutions measure both the coverage and Quality of Service (Osprey QOS) and the Metering and Billing issues of Revenue Assurance (Osprey RA), a market in which WeDo already have numerous international references.
Through this agreement the Portuguese technology will be enhancing its range in Revenue Assurance and will have the opportunity to bring RAID to new customers, including around 130 operators of communication networks in more than 50 countries, which form the Roscom customer group.
“Our main aim with this partnership is to improve the service we offer our customers. Roscom is the main benchmark when talking about Revenue Assurance test calls for communications networks and therefore we believe that this alliance will contribute greatly towards achieving the aim” says Rui Paiva, CEO of WeDo. “Roscom’s strong know-how will allow us to offer an even stronger and complementary global solution, which we believe will bring new opportunities for business throughout the world”.
“Roscom and WeDo are offering telecom service providers a way to efficiently identify revenues that might otherwise be lost in today’s complex network environment,” says Simon Taylor, CEO of Roscom. “In today’s environment where telecom companies are being forced to decrease their margins, this partnership is a natural fit to help solve this issue.”

New faces and new focus for Roscom RA Operations March 07
Roscom’s expansion is continuing with the welcoming of new faces to our Operations Team, which has been restructured into dedicated teams for each of the services we offer.
New recruits have boosted team numbers in order to support our growing international customer base, which includes Vodafone, T-Mobile, Virgin Media, Maxis, Optus, Cell C and Orange and covers fixed line and mobile networks worldwide.
We now have a specialist team for the implementation and support of the Osprey Revenue Finder Service, our short term test call generation programme for detecting revenue leakage, and a separate Osprey Managed Services team dealing with long term outsourced system implementation.
The former Osprey Customer Support team has been split three ways into dedicated teams for Projects, Support and Technical Documents, meaning that our customers always deal with a Support Engineer who has comprehensive knowledge of their specific project history and progress. We also have an Operational Software team working on application development in consultation with the other CSD teams.
Simon Taylor, Roscom Managing Director, said, “These changes have been implemented over a number of months in response to specific product developments and client feedback, and will give the Customer Support team members more focused roles to enable Roscom to provide even better support and service to our customers”
Osprey RA receives UK’s first BABT Attestation March 07
Roscom’s Osprey Revenue Assurance test call solution has become the UK’s first to be attested by the British Approvals Board for Telecommunications (BABT) as meeting the needs of Ofcom regulations, which are compulsory for most UK telecoms service providers. Osprey is now a BABT Attested Communications Support System.

To achieve this status, Roscom underwent a comprehensive assessment during which BABT’s expert assessors examined the Osprey RA system against their stringent Code of Practice for Communications Support Systems and also reviewed the company’s processes for Design & Development, Project Management, Change Management, Quality and Customer Care. Roscom passed all the assessments with exemplary results.
As a true end-to end test call solution, Osprey is used for Revenue Assurance, Regulatory Compliance and Best Practice by more than 40 companies in over 50 countries. In today’s fast-evolving telecoms market, the introduction of new services such as mobile TV and video messaging, and complex tariff structures - from Pay As You Go to triple- and quad-play – make it increasingly difficult for service providers to ensure that their customer billing is accurate.
Osprey helps them protect their customer relationships by ensuring they are not overbilling, and optimise their revenues by preventing revenue leakage through underbilling. By doing this, Osprey enables service providers to comply with Ofcom regulations (Oftel Metering & Billing Direction 2003) and also with other regulations including the Sarbanes Oxley Act 404, ACIF 518 and EU 8th Company Law Directive.
Simon Taylor, Roscom Managing Director, said, “BABT attestation represents recognition that Osprey is an indispensable tool for service providers in today’s increasingly complex and competitive telecoms market.”
BABT (British Approvals Board for Telecommunication) is the certification body for TÜV SÜD. For more information visit www.babt.com.
Roscom secures deal with Virgin Media July 2007
In the wake of ntl:Telewest’s recent acquisition of Virgin Mobile, which produced one of the UK’s largest telephony providers, Roscom are delighted that their ‘Osprey’ equipment will continue to be used to test their fixed line services.

Roscom’s Test Call Generation (TCG) system ‘Osprey’ was already effectively in use when Telewest joined forces with NTL in 2006. Telewest were finding Osprey very beneficial but NTL were using equipment from an alternative TCG vendor. Upon assessing the two company’s respective Revenue Assurance solutions, evaluating both the current functionality and future features, Roscom won through. It was decided that ntl:Telewest would solely use the Roscom ‘Osprey’ equipment to validate and test their single billing system. Since the subsequent union with Virgin Mobile ‘Osprey’ will continue to be used by Virgin Media for Ofcom compliance and will expand into testing mobile services too.
The acquisition of Virgin Mobile by ntl:Telewest produced the UK’s first ‘quadplay’ telecoms organisation able to offer subscription TV, broadband, landline and mobile telephony in one package with a single bill.
Simon Taylor, Managing Director of Roscom said “as telecoms price plans become increasingly complex, with integrated service offerings such as triple and quadruple play, it is more difficult for network providers to ensure that what they are billing for matches the services actually used. We are delighted to secure this deal to help Virgin Media ensure that they are metering and billing accurately, to give them and their customers peace of mind”.
Roscom are the leading provider of test call generation solutions for Revenue Assurance and also Quality of Service testing, with expertise extending across the complete spectrum of public and secure access telecom networks. Since 2000, over 100 network operators in over 40 countries have benefited from Roscom test equipment and services.
Roscom’s global footprint extending to the Caribbean and beyond… March 07
Roscom has recently signed a number of key new business deals for our Osprey metering and billing verification solution in locations across the world, making our global penetration greater than ever:

- As part of a two-year contract with a global telecoms provider, Osprey has been rolled out across their cellular networks the Channel Islands, the North and East Caribbean, Jamaica and Barbados
- Installation has just been completed at South Africa’s third largest mobile telecoms service provider
- Osprey systems installed in Madagascar were upgraded in January as part of a global upgrade strategy for one of our largest customers with networks worldwide
Osprey has also been selected as a metering and billing control and regulatory compliance system by a major multi-play provider in the UK. This means that two of the three principal UK fixed telephony providers are now Osprey customers.
Simon Taylor, Roscom Managing Director, comments, “These wins mean that Roscom’s global footprint is growing all the time, and strengthening our position as the world’s leading provider of telecommunication test solutions”.
The future looks bright for Roscom January 2005
The future looks bright for Roscom, having signed an exclusive deal with giant mobile phone operator, Orange. Roscom will be providing its Revenue Assurance service to Orange networks across Europe, Africa and Asia, ensuring Orange is billing for all network services used.
As telecom products, such as talkplans, become ever more flexible and complex, controlling and ensuring correct billing becomes increasingly difficult. Roscom is the world leader in establishing that customers are not overcharged and network operators are billing for all services used, its groundbreaking OspreyRA technology being responsible for recovering tens of millions of pounds worth of lost revenue for network operators worldwide.
As Simon Taylor, managing director of Roscom, said: "As well as ensuring they are billing for all services provided, we are also working with Orange to ensure the highest level of satisfaction and service wherever customers use an Orange network. This deal is a great tribute to everyone at Roscom and will help underpin jobs for at least the next five years."
Roscom takes the high road December 2004
The world leader in secure network testing, Roscom, is well on its way to completing the pre-RFS testing of the £2.9bn, O2 Airwave network for the UK police force - in readiness for its spring 2005 roll out. This crucial network will provide an integrated public safety communication system in the UK for the first time.

Roscom is the first choice for emergency service providers around the world. The company has unrivalled experience and expertise in the pre- and post-RFS QoS testing of secure access TETRA networks - for network optimisation and maintenance, customer trialling and governmental regulatory compliance.
Having already successfully tested most of England, Roscom is currently working in Wales and Scotland - the new network extending even to the Outer Hebrides. And this is where things have got a bit trickier.
The task of drive testing this network in the far-flung regions of Scotland has challenged even Roscom’s ingenuity. Simon Taylor, managing director of Roscom, explains: "This project has involved the hiring of private landing craft to get vehicles to islands that don’t run ferries and flying in a buggy by helicopter, all to ensure the performance of this crucial network is tested in even the remotest corners."
Roscom rises to its Olympic challenge July 2004
Derby based telecommunications company, Roscom, has been testing the communications network for the Olympic Games in Athens. Working to an extremely tight deadline, Roscom’s rapid response test teams have been drive testing the network to ensure that all communications will be working in time for this summer’s Games.
Working closely with Motorola - the supplier of the TETRA communications infrastructure - Roscom has been measuring network performance, testing for signal strength and network coverage and gathering other quality of service (QoS) measurements in all Olympic venues and connecting roads.
Brian Edwards, Roscom’s Technical Sales Manager, explains: "Our public safety network testing equipment identifies problems on the network, enabling them to be eradicated and the network optimised to ensure the best possible end-user experience. The real challenge of this particular project has been the short timescale involved. However, the beauty of TERIA is that it delivers accurate, usable results, fast."
Roscom strengthens its position in the southern hemisphere March 2004
Roscom, world leader in the testing of public and secure access telecom networks, has opened a new office in Johannesburg, South Africa. Part of the company’s long-term strategic growth plan, the new office has been opened to support the rapidly developing mobile communications markets in Africa and Australia.
Roscom has been designing, manufacturing and deploying the tools that test the world’s telecommunications networks since 1982. Now, with a full time presence in the southern hemisphere, the UK based company is able to respond more rapidly to the needs of its customers in this part of the world.
Simon Taylor, managing director of Roscom, said: The southern hemisphere, in particular Africa and Australia, is offering some great opportunities for mobile telecommunications operators. Our new office in South Africa enables us to offer the kind of dedicated, expert, firsthand service and support that these organisations need to ensure their success.
