OSPREY TCG/TEG

What is it?

Osprey TCG is a world-leading testing platform designed to validate the correct configuration, operation and quality of key elements of the various platforms, systems, procedures and controls that comprise the revenue chain of telecommunication providers.

Osprey is much more than just a test call generation system. It is an integrated platform that includes multiple hardware and software modules which replicate the renue chain from handset to invoice.

What does it do?

Over the last 10 years with the help of key customers and technology partners, Roscom engineers have focused their development efforts in creating new innovative software modules aiming to leverage the use of test events. Today, Osprey offers a large range of features specifically aimed at helping key business areas such as Networks & Systems, Revenue Assurance, Billing, Auditing and Regulatory compliance. So what does Osprey do? It can help you validate...

Integrity  of networks and services

xDR Generation  at multiple platforms

- Call duration and byte count  metering accuracy

- Duration and rating  rounding rules

- Complex  rating and billing business rules  for prepay and postpay

Platform Modules

In order to understand the full potential of Osprey, it’s key to highlight some of the basic features of its different hardware and software modules.

Hardware Modules

Call Generators

Physical hardware units responsible for performing physical test calls/events and generating independent Osprey xDRs with independent call duration metering.

SIM Server

A server responsible for managing and remote provisioning of test SIM cards to the call generators.

Osprey Server

The main server responsible of hosting the various software modules and databases.

Software Modules (Osprey Server)

Tests Scheduling Engine

Responsible for managing the execution of user designed test plans and scenarios

xDR Reconciliation Engine

Responsible for the automatic matching process between Osprey xDRs and xDRs from the various systems under test. (MSC, Softswitches, IN, GGSNs, SMSCs, Mediation, Rating, Billing etc)

Metering Engine

Responsible for comparing the switches call duration metering vs. the Call Sender’s metered durations. This engine is able to identify various types of metering errors such as those caused by rounding rules at Switch, Softwitch or mediation level.

Rating Engine

Responsible for the automatic calculation of an Osprey price for each test event performed. This powerful engine utilises the relevant user-configured rating rules in order to calculate an independent price. This engine is also responsible for the pricing comparison between Osprey Price and the price calculated by the rating server under test

Billing Engine

Responsible enabling and managing bundling and promotions capabilities to the any configured tariff plans. This engine allows Osprey to validate complex billing promotions which can be based on: type of event, number of transactions, time, duration, byte counts and money.

Reporting Engine

Responsible for producing predefined exceptions reports that highlight the various discrepancies identified by each of the comparison engines. These reports include a set of user-configurable tables, dashboards and drill downs combined with a very powerful filtering and data exporting capability for those who require third party data processing.

Software Applications (Client Side)

Call Sender Editor

Used for configuring Call Senders, SIM Card profiles and provisioning Osprey Tariff Plans to test SIMs.

Tariff Editor & Tariff Scheme Editor

These two applications are used for configuring tariff plans and their individual rating rules in Osprey. This powerful application is fully GUI based and includes configuration wizards to facilitate even more the entry of complex rules and plans. This is without doubt one of the most unique features of the platform.

Callset Editor and Calendar

These two applications are used for designing and scheduling test call plans. A set of tools and filters are built in to facilitate the rapid entry of various test cases. The user has full control for selecting originating and terminating networks, party a, party b, service type, start time, duration and number of events.

Advanced Scripting Client

This powerful GUI-Based application allows the user to create complex data testing scenarios including multi-step WAP browsing sessions which can include content downloads such as ringtones, news and pictures and more.

Web Reports

All Osprey test results and reports generated by the Reporting Engine are WEB based and can be accessed by standard WEB browsers.
